About The Melton Cheeseboard
The Melton Cheeseboard shop is situated on Windsor Street, right at the heart of the traditional market town of Melton Mowbray, which has a worldwide reputation for Stilton cheese and pork pies, but there is so much more to enjoy. We are fortunate to have a traditional Livestock Market held every Tuesday, and in addition on Friday there is a smaller farmers market, again held at the same venue – on both days you will find our stall selling a wide range of British cheeses, Hambleton Bakery bread and other local products. We also have a stall at Loughborough Farmers Market, which is held on the second Wednesday of the month.
We currently stock around 150 different cheeses, so if you are in the area please visit us and discover some new flavours. We welcome customers who share our passion for cheese and we are always happy to provide a taster before you buy. We are very much a family business, based right at the heart of the local community.
Because of our commitment to local food producers, it is our policy to source as many of our cheeses directly from the dairies, including the complete range from Long Clawson Dairy, who have won lots of awards – particularly for their Blue Stilton and Aged Leicester; Blue Stilton and Beauvale from Cropwell Bishop Creamery; Lincolnshire Poacher and Double Barrel from F. W. Read and Sons; Sparkenhoe Leicester, Bosworth Field and Battlefield Blue from Leicestershire Handmade Cheese Company; and Cobblers Nibble from Hamm Tun Foods. By buying directly from the cheesemakers we can guarantee the provenance of our products as well as minimising food miles.
We stock many other locally produced foods, including yogurts, honey, free range eggs, beers, cordials, spirits and liqueurs. A favourite with our customers is our Melton Mowbray Pork Pie from Leesons Butchers, who have won the Best Handraised Pork Pie at the Melton Fatstock Show. We also stock ranges from small specialist food producers in order to bring you a wide choice of quality products that the major supermarkets overlook in their never-ending quest to restrict consumer choice and sell depersonalised food.

Our food truck is where we started to serve up some of our favourite hot smoked creations. We regularly served up some low and slow BBQ food including our signature smoked Beef Brisket and our slow cooked smoked pulled pork. We also incorporated some of our cold smoked products into the menu too, our smoked halloumi cheese was served up fried in a flatbread wrap with hummus, rocket and our fruity hot sauce.
