About the Melton Cheeseboard

The Melton Cheeseboard is in heart of the traditional market town of Melton Mowbray, famed for Stilton cheese and pork pies. We currently stock around 120 different cheeses, so if you are in the area please visit us and discover some new flavours. We positively welcome customers who are interested in cheese and we are always happy to provide a taster before you buy. We are very much a family business, run by husband and wife Tim and Lyn Brown, with the part-time assistance of daughter Emma and son William, and our three invaluable colleagues, Linda, Paula and Karen.
Melton Mowbray is a small market town, famous for its Stilton and pork pies, but there is so much more to enjoy. We are fortunate to have a traditional Cattle Market held every Tuesday, and in addition on Friday there is a farmers market, again held in the Cattle Market – on both days you will find our stall selling a wide range of British cheeses and local products. We also have a stall at Loughborough Farmers Market, which is held every second Wednesday of the month. To watch a short video about Melton Mowbray click on the link below

A fine selection of Cheeses available at the Melton Cheeseboard in Melton Mowbray
Our shop is closely associated with Long Clawson Dairy. They are situated only five miles away in the village of Long Clawson and have been making cheeses since 1911. They are a very successful farmers’ co-operative; their milk is sourced from around fifty members within the area, and turned into award winning Stilton cheese, and also a traditional Red Leicester aged for six months. Clawson are also well known for their range of blended cheese, particularly White Stilton with added fruit, and we are fortunate to be able to source directly from them. We take the whole range of their products, and are recognised as the local outlet for their cheeses.
Because of our commitment to local food producers, it is our policy to source many of our cheeses directly from the dairies, this includes the complete Long Clawson range, Quenby Hall Stilton, Cropwell Bishop Stilton, Lincolnshire Poacher, Godminster Organic Vintage Cheddar, Bertelin Staffordshire Farmhouse Cheese, Shorrocks Lancashire and Sparkenhoe Farm Leicester. By buying directly we can guarantee the provenance of our products as well as minimising food miles.
We stock many other locally produced foods, including milk, honey, free range eggs, beers, cordials and drinks, wines. We now stock Pork Pies made by Leesons Family Butchers, who have recently won the Gold Award in the British Port Pie Awards. We also stock ranges from small specialist food producers in order to bring you a wide choice of quality products that the major supermarkets overlook in their never ending quest to restrict consumer choice and sell depersonalised food.

A selection of our ranges includes:

  • Beers from the Belvoir Brewery
  • Thursday Cottage Jams and Marmalades
  • Little Dalby Honey
  • Cordials and Presses from Belvoir Cordials
  • Tracklements Chutneys and Relishes
  • Taylors of Harrogate Coffees
